Small Hive Beetles and the Flow Hive

Small hive beetles are a big problem in our area (Northern NSW, Australia). We have designed the frames with beetles in mind.

Beetles cannot get into the honey trough or movement mechanism. Unlike other plastic frames, we have made sure there are no spaces created to harbour beetles.

If you lose your hive to small hive beetles, the Flow Frames will not be damaged, but they will need a clean using a hot water hose – the water must be hot enough to melt beeswax, but no hotter than 70 Celsius /160 Fahrenheit. Remove the frames from the hive to do this.

The Flow Hive 2 and 2+ are designed with a handy multifunctional tray, perfect for adding pest treatments to your hive if needed.
