If you’re using the Flow Super Lifter to lift two boxes at a time, they need to be connected together securely. We recommend using a pair of our Flow Brass Hive Latches to do this - one on each side.
The latches can also be used to connect the lowest box to the hive base, to prevent them from separating if the bees haven’t sufficiently stuck everything together with propolis.
The number of latches you’ll need in total depends on how many hives you have, and how many of them will require multiple box lifts - to calculate the minimum number of latches you’ll need, multiply the number of double box lifts you want to be able to do by 2. Add additional latches for any instances where you want to connect the lowest box to the hive base.
2 latches are included in the Super Lifter Extension Kit and Super Lifter Deluxe Kit, and they can also be purchased separately in packs of 2 or 6.
